Smart Stumps

SteelMAX Smart Stumps are a multi-fit, modular system for domestic and light commercial buildings. Our Smart Stump systems are easy to install as a do-it-yourself project, or can be installed by your builder. They are designed to be used in most steel or timber flooring frame applications.

Our Smart Stump system is available in two sizes: 75mm and 90mm.

Features and benefits

• Modular – Smart Stumps have separate bases, tops and stump tube sections that can be purchased individually, allowing you to choose components to suit various applications, site designs and specifications
• Versatile – Smart Stump base fittings can be used on footing pads that are not level or fixed onto the tops of sloping strip footings. Once fixed to footings, they allow the stump tube to be adjusted along the channel to plumb the tube, and to be connected at any position from the centre or flush with one end. They can also be used vertically to fix the face of retaining or base walls, and they double as a post top fitting that provides direct support to large beams. Smart Stump base fittings can also be used as a heavy duty connector bracket, to fix framing members to walls, columns or other members.
• Easy to assemble – Installing and assembling Smart Stumps is quick and easy, using Tek screws and M12 galvanised bolts.
• Corrosion-resistant – All Smart Stump fittings are hot dipped galvanised, galvabonded or dacrotised making them durable and resistant to corrosion.

Specifications

• Stump tops are a universal fitting designed to support almost any type of timber framing, as well as steel bearers and beams of various sizes and sections. They are available in a variety of standard tops, which accommodates straight runs of bearers. Multi-tops are also available, which allow bearers to be joined at 90 degrees or as a T-intersection.
• Stump bases are made from channel steel, giving the Smart Stump system excellent strength.
• Stump tube is readily available from your local steel supplier in a range of standard wall thicknesses.
